A university relocates
Johann Wolfgang Goethe University, in Frankfurt, gradually moves from its location in Bockenheim to Westend campus and Riedberg campus, supported by the state and the federation.
The faculties of science move into new buildings on Riedberg campus. In total, 47,500 m² main usable area are planned to be realised in three stages. The faculties of law and economics, educational and social sciences, cultural studies and linguistics as well as the central units are located on Westend campus. All in all, 99,000 m² main usable area plus approx. 78,000 m² surface space in reserve, which is also planned to be developed in three stages, will be available.
The rearrangement of the University location plays an important role in the further development of Hesse, as a state of education and research. State and federation will invest approx. 600 m € for alteration and development by 2019.
On behalf of the state, DU takes on the overall co ordination, within the scope of project development, space and infrastructure management and the concrete planning and construction works of all measures. This includes the user management (relocation) and the co-ordination of the commercialisation of the vacant sites in Bockenheim (lot area: 16 hectare; development area: 376,000 m² gross surface area).
