Young people's home for recreation and education, Schliersee

all inclusive

The young people's home for recreation and education of 'IG-Metall', constructed in the 50ies in an attractive environment, could no longer be used as a seminar centre, because of substantial deficiencies and increased quality demands. There was a principle readiness for comprehensive redevelopment and extension. With DU as project supervisor, the first plans and cost statements were checked with regard to feasibility, prior to having the necessary adaptions carried out.

Besides the already available reliable cost calculations, secured financing was required. This was the first 'IG-Metall' project, which could be integrated into the Bavarian and national programs. Through further adaptions the funding guidelines could be fully met. The building owner received subsidies covering approx. 50% of the contract price, as expected in the beginning.

After the ceremonial inauguration with union representatives, the equipment was completed, maintaining the budget and utilising the possibilities of grants sounded out by the companies. The now multi-functional and architecturally ambitious young people’s home for recreation and education of 'IG-Metall', with its additionally offered leisure facilities has become a popular contact point for young people from all parts of Germany.
