IGM regional management NRW, Ross-Strasse, Duesseldorf
alround no worries
After the merger of 'IG-Metall' with the textile clothing workers' union (GTB) the former 'GTB' administration building in Duesseldorf, was chosen as the future common location, to centralise the previous 'IG-Metall' area headquarters of Wuppertal and Dortmund.
The 'GTB' office building, constructed at the end of the 60ies as a reinforced concrete carcass construction, with a central inner stairway was extensively redeveloped and modernised. As the completed object was recognised with an architecture award, it was necessary to preserve its architectural character within the modernisation.
Owing to substantial deficiencies in construction, building engineering and structural fire protection, this required an intensive communication and co-ordination between the building owner, the architect and the specialists involved. Through the works performed a modern building standard was created.
In addition to supervision of the planning and construction works, DU also co-ordinated the relocation, delivery and start-up processes. All in all, the planning and construction works were wound-up within not more than 18 months.
