The insurance group 'Berlin-Koelnische Versicherung', an amalgamation of 6 companies, now 'ASSTEL Versicherungsgruppe', decided to construct its new head office in the administrative park, Pohligstrasse, in the South of Cologne, to be better prepared for the market development influenced by the strategical change in the insurance industry.
The two blocks, at right angles to the street Pohligstrasse, connected by two link roads, form the head office of a maximum length of 200 metres. Next to the office building, a central garage with 850 parking spaces for the administration park in the South of Cologne, 'Verwaltungspark Koeln-Sued', was built.
DU was commissioned with project control and assured the necessary cost and schedule security, up to the handing over to the user.
Today, the motto of the laying of the foundation stone in 1993, 'humane offices for 1,000 civil servants', can be related to. It manifests itself in the realised architectural and qualitative demands on the completed building.
