Reinforcement of structural fire protection for degussa AG, Duesseldorf

resisting the fire

After the new administration building for E.ON, Duesseldorf, had been occupied in 2001, the office building at Bennigsenplatz was rented out to degussa AG. E.ON AG commissioned DU with the preparation of an analysis for weaknesses in fire protection, to increase the safety standard, according to current fire protection requirements.

Necessary adaptions to current fire protection requirements were revealed. On the basis of this study, DU developed a graduated scheme for the realisation of alteration measures, providing a cost statement, a schedule frame and an efficiency analysis.

DU was commissioned with realisation of fire protection measures and general planning. The general planning team covered the areas of architecture, technical building equipment, project supervision and control.

Within the scope of reinforcing structural fire protection, contamination through asbestos and synthetic mineral fibres was revealed. The general planner also planned and supported the realisation of partial redevelopment.
