Central Technical Police Services, Duisburg

A new building, for sure

In 1998 the federal state North-Rhine Wesphalia commissioned DU to support the measure 'Central Technical Police Services' in the awarding of the general contract. The high demands on structural engineering and urban development, owing to the location at the interior harbour of Duisburg, required a structured process control. Furthermore, special user requirements, with regard to security and communications engineering, had to be considered.

The overall concept of achieving synergies by centralising the police stations and at the same time promoting the future-oriented development of the interior harbour Duisburg, was convincing. The project targets were achieved under maintenance of economic interests, by consistent realisation of user demands in dialogue with the architect and the building owner's representative and the regional building authorities of Duisburg.

After approval of the 'HU-Bau' budget documents, the whole construction project, with a functional schedule and a flat budget, was awarded to a general contractor. Today, the building for police services at the end of the interior harbour of Duisburg is an essential optical element within the whole ensemble.
