Reinforced structural fire protection for the state office for data protection (LDS), North-Rhine Westphalia

Since 1975, the state office for data protection (LDS) in North-Rhine Westphalia, is based in Duesseldorf, Mauerstrasse 51, in a typical 70ies building. Under the intention to maintain the location the planning for the necessary redevelopment, with particular regard to structural fire protection requirements, were initiated in 1999. The complexity of the scheme required external project control, which was assigned to DU at the beginning of 2002.

The performances and thus, the project budget were put to the test through the order placed with DU. The basic conditions were re-defined, to secure the maintenance of schedules and cost targets.

The realisation of the redevelopment works in the going concern requires a staged approach, interim relocations and other temporary solutions. This is what DU particularly concentrates on with its schedule control. The first relocations will take place in August 2004. The completion of all alteration and redevelopment works is planned for spring 2006.

In co-operation with DU, a project structure providing for extensive user involvment was created. Securing seamless operation has the highest priority.
