New Building for the judical centre in Wuppertal
justified prices
The German federal state North Rhine-Westphalia intends to demolish the judicial multi-storey building and to construct a new judiciary centre. It is expected to be architectually demanding and functional.
Therefore, a limited, anonymous, single-stage realisation competition, according to 'GRW 1995', was initiated. The architects from 'Scheuvens + Wachten' supervised the procedure.
DU was supposed to appraise the 28 tenders with regard to cost. The competitors had to consider the special requirements arising from the preservation order, the foundation on the Wupper island, the directives as well as function and security requirements for a courthouse.
Through the realisation competition a functional and architecturally ambitious planning solution , in line with the cost objectives, was found.
