MicroElectronicCentrum, Duisburg
macro-cosmos
The first stage of the MicroElectronicCentrum project, the realisation of the MicroElectronicPark in Bismarckstrasse, Duisburg, covered the major part of the total project volume. The finished building holds symbolic character for the city. The aim was to realise the sophisticated architectural design by Foster + Partner, London, with its innovative building concept for future micro-electronic users, in a cost-efficient way.
In 1994, DU took on project supervision, project control and responsibility for the planning of architect costs.
The building is designed for rental units from 40 m². It can be horizontally and vertically extended, in line with individual user requirements. The flexibility concept considers for example, floor loading as well as technical building equipment and IT technology requirements. Thus, the utilisation allows production areas, development sections and pure floor surface.
In 1997, the MicroElectronicCentrum was completed on due date and handed over to the building owners and users, within the stipulated budget. DU supported the project from the planning to the operation of the building.
