Extension building for legal authorities, Kassel

Since the 60ies, the various courts in Kassel have their common location on the piece of land between the streets 'Frankfurter Strasse' and 'Schoene Aussicht'.
The stuctural components both completed and under construction or planning, are to complete the centralisation of the legal authorities in Kassel (local courts, district courts and prosecutor's, offices) and to create optimal working conditions.
Within the scope of the first building stage, the building for the district court and the conference building were constructed. The vacant multi-storey building can now be redeveloped, heightened and extended. In the future, the whole building complex will be accessible over the central foyer. The prosecutor's offices will also move into a redeveloped building, extended with additional storeys.
Static and structural fire protection deficiencies place high demands on planning as well as economic and schedule controlling by DU. Monumental preservation requirements for the existing facade of the multi-storey building had to be aligned with current civil engineering requirements, with regard to sound, heat and sun protection.
