Redevelopment of the State Theater in Kassel

no drama

For more than 45 years, the National Theater in Kassel was operated with original technical building equipment. Owing to massive deficiencies in fire safety measures, besides substantial technical problems with the operation of the house, the theatre was under the threat of being officially closed down in 2004.

The focus of project control was firstly put on providing comprehensive information for all technical and political decision makers. In 2002, DU prepared a feasibility study, on the basis of which the overall cost frame of the basic reinstatement was calculated. The decision makers were now able to determine the development phases and to specify and realise the planning order.

After the VOF (Professional Services Contract Regulations) selection procedure had been successfully completed, preliminary planning began in January 2002. The program documents, presented to the Ministry for Finance in Hesse, are currently awaiting decision.

According to the current project schedule, the redevelopment works are planned to be completed at the beginning of the season 2006/2007.
